This is an aerial view of Sturgeon Bay. The Holiday is circled in red, just off the north end of the historic Michigan Street Bridge (pictured open) and one block from the water. Walk across the bridge from the Holiday and you'll find yourself on Madison Avenue, where you'll find the best shops and dining on the "West Side". A block north of the Holiday is 3rd Avenue, Sturgeon Bay's and famed shopping and dining strip and the lifeblood of the historic district. Three blocks northwest of the Holiday is Jefferson Street. The Jefferson Street Shops are unique boutiques housed in beautifully restored old Victorians. The Holiday is a pedestrian shopper's paradise! Aside from prime proximity to the city's finest shopping and dining, the Holiday is less than four minutes from Sunset Park, home of Little Lake, a great swimming beach, lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, an exercise course over a mile long with eleven stations, a two lane boat launch ramp and a transient docking pier, a half-mile trail for walking, jogging, and bicycling, and two playground areas for kids. Sunset park is a very popular place for shore fishing, and as its name implies, a great place to catch the sunset! The Holiday is also a short walk from Otumba Park, featuring sheltered picnic areas with restrooms, playground equipment, a nice little beach, lighted tennis courts and a lighted basketball court, free parking, and a beautiful waterfront walkway with great view. There are seven marinas in the Holiday's immediate vicinity, the furthest being five minutes away, and our large parking lot can accommodate boats of a reasonable size. The Holiday is less than five minutes from both the Door County Maritime Museum and the Door County Historical Museum, as well as the Door County Library, which prides itself in making it quick and easy for tourists to borrow books. We're walking distance from banks and the post office, a great local winery (Red Oak) and theatre (Third Avenue Playhouse). The city's liveliest local bars are also a short walk away, so there's no need to drive for nightlife. We like to think that between our friendly staff, top-notch amenities, our charming history, and unbeatable rates, we'd be a great place to stay even if our location left something to be desired. The fact that we occupy the very heart of beautiful downtown Sturgeon Bay's historic district is just icing on the cake!
