INTERNET RADIO STATION WITH A MISSION TO PROMOTE
ORIGINAL, COLLABORATIVE MUSIC FROM THE HOLIDAY MUSIC MOTEL
IS BORN IN STURGEON BAY
On October 27th, 2013 Steel Bridge Radio, a locally based internet radio station, began broadcasting original, collaboratively written music, live concerts, and exclusive interviews with artists, 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.steelbridgeradio.com. In 2018 'Steel Bridge Radio' also became a free app download for Apple and Android devices enabling listeners all around the globe to tune in anytime, anywhere!
The content of this innovative media creation focuses on the collaborative music written and recorded during the three yearly songwriting retreats and festivals held since 2005 at the Holiday Music Motel in Sturgeon Bay. Steel Bridge Radio not only plays the music from the compilation CD’s from the previous nine years of recordings, but also delves deep into the hundreds of archived tracks that have, until now, remained silent.
Sturgeon Bay native James Larsen kicked things off in the early days of Steel Bridge Radio showcasing the musical journey through the past and into the future of the collaborative music created at The Holiday. While Larsen has moved on to other endeavors pat mAcdonald, melaniejane, Steve Hamilton and others continue to develop the station constantly updating it with new content and moving towards ‘specialty’ radio shows, podcasts and interactive programming.
As pat mAcdonald, Creative Director and partner in SBR says, “Where there are bridges, there are no boundaries.”
The songwriters from around the world who travel to Sturgeon Bay to take part in the three songwriting festivals at the Holiday Music Motel (February’s ‘Love On Holiday,’ June’s ‘Steel Bridge Songfest’ and October’s ‘Dark Songs’) bring with them stories and experiences from around the world that get distilled into musical tales that surprise, entertain and captivate new listeners. With so much global and local talent bottled up at the Holiday Music Motel for days on end, a song can twist in any direction.
Follow Steel Bridge Radio on Facebook, download the free app and visit www.steelbridgeradio.com to join the mailing list and receive updates. You can contact the studio at (920) 743-5571.
Steel Bridge Radio exists to celebrate the collaboratively written and produced music created at the Holiday Music Motel,
and to promote these original compositions to the world.
Steel Bridge Radio is the shortest distance between creation and rotation.
